  1. Sally Mae, student loans has been calling my cell everyday 5 or more times for a person that no longer has this phone number. I have called them myself times letting them no this. They are still calling.

    • I sent them a certified letter, identifying myself and demanding that they cease calling me immediately because the debt in question was not mine. They ignored me and continued to call. Sallie Mae has very powerful political friends and lobbyists, so seeking help from government agencies or your Congressional reps is a waste of time.

I finally filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. At first the BBB simply closed my complaint without taking any action (3 times) but I persisted. When Sallie Mae finally responded, they denied ever calling me because they have no record of any debt in my name and promised to remove my number from their database. Why did they have to remove my number from their list if they never called it?
